The detained boss of the drug business in the north of SD (alias 'El Gringo') threatened to disclose the names of high ranking officers who allegedly were paid by him and were videotaped.
Two officers who apprehended the criminal (with 4.3 million pesos) are being transferred to other duties as they received life threats by 'El Gringo'. They had rejected 500,000 RD$ in bribe money to let him go.
A source claims that the drug boss also provided DNCD officers with free houses in the countryside.

The people in Capotillo, which is the home 'barrio' of 'El Gringo', protested against his detention.
They praised his good deeds which ranged from helping the sick and invalids and families of deceased persons to paying for fiestas.

Two generals and three colonels of the police force are under investigation.
There seems to bexist a list of officials who received large sums of money and gifts from 'El Gringo'.

It just shows how detached he is from everyday life here. They're not a mockery of Dominican society - this is how society functions here in some sectors. With all the recent findings of military and police complicity in crime, how is this even remotely shocking?
